20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

The Eleven Foot Miniature

  The actual eleven foot prop miniature used for filming.  The size of this model is absolutely astounding when you stand next to it.  For many years it hung on display in the 20,000 Leagues Exhibit in Disneyland here in Anaheim.  In 1966 it was however, removed and put into storage where it sat for several years.  During this time there were two people who wanted it...real bad...  These people were the famous Tom Scherman, and David Smith of the Disney Archive.  Neither one was able to secure it though.

  It also spent time in the Walt Disney Story on Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.  It now currently resides in in the Living Seas Pavillion in EPCOT Center in Disney World.
